Q: Does it hurt to get a Tattoo?
A: Yes it does hurt, but we strive to make it as painless as possible. Areas of the body that are more sensitive may include the rib cage, the hip area, stomach, feet, inner bicep, and lower back to name a few of the more sensitive areas. Also it is very different person to person, we find that the forearms, shoulders, and most of your legs are easier to handle getting tattooed on.
Q: Can I shower with my new tattoo?
A: Yes we encourage your daily shower and cleaning a new tattoo with Johnson and Johnson baby wash or a fragrance-free soap of your choosing. But, please note, over exposure to water *IS* bad for your fresh tattoo. Drowning your fresh tat in water can lead to infection, you want to only wash it the one time a day and for the first week keep it dry and clean as possible.
Q: Can I tan with my tattoo?
A: When your tattoo is freshly done, no you should NOT be tanning whether in a bed or spray-tanning, either one is a no-no until your tattoo is fully healed and even then you must proceed with caution to not over-expose your ink to harmful UV rays, this will fade your ink over time. What you can do is get a chapstick with an SPF in it, or a stick of sunblock and just go over your tattoo with it, and use the tanning products all over your bare skin while the SPF stick/chapstick protects your tattoo. Win/Win! (but it does take a month usually at least before you can use the tanning bed, tattoo must be healed and free of peeling skin and scabs before indulging in tanning)
Q: How long does it take to heal a tattoo?
A: A tattoo's healing time depends on many things.. One being how well you take care of it, two being how your immune system is (i.e. diabetics take longer to heal), and your enviroment(i.e. if the tattoo is on your arm and you work in long sleeves or with long gloves on this make take longer to heal). If all goes well it usually is about 4-6 weeks. This does depend on the tattoo as well though, lettering tends to heal up much quicker, and larger tattoos with full color or greywash may take longer. It is all very relative to your personal health and situation.
Q: How do I know what/where to get my tattoo?
A: We are definately not here to take your money and send you out the door wondering if you really wanted the tattoo you chose. We pride ourselves on developing custom artwork for our custom customers. If you see something in our flash that you love, we will more than happily help you with application, but we tend to use our flash to more get an idea of what you as a person like about tattoos and design aspects. Also we are always willing to do free consultations with anyone to discuss the application process, design, and location.
